During his tenure, he strengthened Pennsylvania’s homeland security
readiness in the days and months following the terrorist attacks of 9/11. He gained widespread acclaim for his leadership during the successful 77-hour rescue operation of nine trapped miners in Quecreek, Somerset County in July 2002.
Now working in the private sector, he continues to lend his considerable experience in emergency management, crisis response and counterterrorism as an executive-in-residence for Rider University’s Homeland Security program.
At the Press Club luncheon this month, he will offer his reflections on 9/11 and where we are today as a nation that promised to never forget the brave Americans who lost their lives that day.
